The blogger was able to briefly interview and ask for an autograph from the writer, Ms. Gamboa. At first I thought that Ms. Coylee was Aurora Teo Mei Ling. It turns out that Aurora Teo Mei Ling was just a pen name. The true identity is kept hidden, due to the controversial happening in the book.

The two met at an art school and formed a bond strong enough for Aurora to entrust her life story to Coylee, and this autobiography came to light.

Now who doesn't want to hear a big, juicy gossip involving high profile personalities? If this is any indication, showbiz or entertainment news sites have a great following and the comments box is often exploding!

book review philippines

Now, take a heroine- hers is a rags to riches story. She is beautiful, smart, rich and of Chinese descent. After marrying her knight in shining armor, she is able to travel lavishly abroad, acquire luxurious cars, buy designer bags- but is this a fairytale dream of happily ever after?

When I got home, I immediately flipped thru the pages. Lo and behold, Broken Mirror is so well written that I could not put it down. I almost finished the book that night.

The book is somewhat scandalous, revealing traditions and taboos in the shrouded Chinese community. Even this jaded reader finds it  shocking and affecting.

Oh, how many times could her mirror break, her heart and soul shatter into pieces!!! It got me furious and sad; I want to reach out to this lady and comfort her. How I wish the story was make believe, but it actually is a non-fiction!

broken mirror book synopsis
"Legend says that when a child is born, a mirror is forged to reflect the new soul so care must be taken not to break the mirror for that would bring bad luck..."

This book is a must have, not only because this is an honest and factual account of things that will otherwise remain a secret, but more so because it is a tale that will leave lessons and hopefully help those of similar situations, with its positive words of empowerment.
