Contractubex SCARvivor Advocacy
Last August 27, 2015, 10:00 AM was the press launch of SCARvivors by leading scar management brand, Contractubex, held in Amici Restaurant. SCARvivor is an advocacy campaign by Merz Philippines Healthcare Inc., makers of Contractubex ( Extract Cepae + Heparin Sodium + Allantoin), for the benefit of burn centers in the Philippines and the Philippine Association of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeons, Inc. (PAPRAS) mission.
We were enlightened by the talks and messages from the doctors in attendance. A burn victim's treatment does not end with one doctor. It may enlist sessions from rehab, physical therapy, speech, pain, psychiatrist, plastic surgeon...

The sooner the scar is treated, the greater the chance of positively influencing scar formation. Ideally, Contractubex gel (unique combination of Extractum Cepae + Heparin Sodium + Allantoin) should be gently massaged in 2 to 3 times daily (only on CLOSED wounds) for at least 3 months. Yes, scars might be a reminder of pain and personal tragedy, but they are also a sign of healing wounds. It is a testament to a person's courage and resilience. "My scars are very big and my left leg was deformed. It was a very difficult experience, but with the help of many loving people especially my Mom and Dad, I am now on my road to complete recovery." -Giboy Billena, 13 years old, a bone cancer survivor.
"Dahil sa scars, dati binubully ako. Sinusulatan yung libro ko ng sunog. Ganun. Pero hindi ko hinayaang masira ang buhay ko." -Rubylyn Cua Rodel, got burned in an accident.
"My experience has been a painful struggle. But I didn't let it hinder me from doing the things I wanted to do. I want others to know that you can be so much more than your scars. Just trust yourself and your will to fight." -Dwight Bayona, a karter who lost his leg in an accident.
"Ang mahalaga, muli akong makabalik sa aking tungkulin. Dala ng paninilbihan ang sugat na ito, nagbibigay sa akin ng lakas ng loob." -Richard Tagapan, a PNP SAF officer injured in the line of duty.
Allow me to share my story. I remember back in high school, my problem was acne and well the pitted scars were less obvious but I was still very much affected. I was painfully shy to begin with and it made me all the more embarrassed. On the other hand, I had a classmate and she met a minor accident. As a result, a big keloid was formed. She got teased and called "bubblegum" as they said the raised scar looks like there was a gum stuck in her arm. Good thing that girl made dedma and it seems like she did not let it affect her outgoing and confident personality.
