Manang's. Simple Name but Exceptionally Good Taste!

I absolutely adore Yema cakes, Bibingka and Puto Bumbong. Good thing that I do not need to wait for Christmas or a loved one to go to Quezon province to be able to buy these as there are stores near our house selling these beloved munchies of mine all year round.
That's why when I saw an invite to try Manang's latest- the yema and puto bumbong cupcake- I expressed my intention to join in an instant. And I was so glad I did.
I found out for myself why this humble booth which has started in Mercato Centrale had been a blockbuster there for 5 years and has now expanded to 14 stores- and counting!!! But mind you, this chicken recipe of theirs whipped up by their cook affectionately called "Manang", has been a staple in the dining table of the family behind this fastfood chain for the past 20 years!
Manang's H.O. and commissary is located in San Pedro, Laguna. They are also open for franchising.
Food bloggers and lifestyle bloggers went on Manang's Taft branch last December 5. The staff were very accommodating and gave us some refreshments while waiting for their Marketing honcho.
I admit to being a Mojo addict. Heck, I love all things potato! French fries, mashed potato, potato croquette, and when eating nilagang baka, mechado or kaldereta I even pick first the potato (sauce and other veggies) and disregard the meat, hahaha! I have to say Manang's could replace my fascination wth Mojo's. Manang's chips is 100% all natural US potatoes that are incredibly savoury and stays crispy, not soggy, all throughout the day.
When Sir Migs arrived, also came the barrage of delectable Manang's cuisine!
Manang's Glazed Chicken in Original (soy garlic), Mild Spicy and Extra Spicy-
Affordable at just Php 109, the Classic busog meal lets you enjoy 1 piece chicken (in glazed or crunchtastic), drinks, chips and all you can rice.
My hubby is a die-hard fan of Korean glazed chicken. But even he must admit that we were blown away by Manang's! Their chicken is bigger, heavier and had this lip-smacking sweet-spicy glaze- the taste could definitely give other chicken resto's a run for their money and Manang's could emerge as the Winner!

Me and hubby love pasta and all three were amazing. Walang itulak kabigin. But since I am a fan of salted egg and tomatoes for viand and salted egg chips, well I will go for it as my fave!
For dessert came the STAR of this event- Manang's Christmas cupcake sundae! It is baked to order hence the warm cake underneath mingles with the coolness of the sundae on top. Priced for only Php 49.
Yema de Leche cupcake sundae-
Manang's own version of cake served ala mode. In between buttery vanilla cupcake and vanilla ice cream is sweet, gooey milk custard, with grated cheese garnishing- my favorite!!!
Puto Bumbong cupcake sundae-
A Pinoy Christmas staple served with a twist! Vanilla ice cream on top of a cheesy puto bumbong cupcake with coconut flakes and muscovado sugar sprinkles- heavenly!
Finally, we were full but came still their new CRUNCHtastic fried chicken.
Your favorite fried chicken done Manang's way- big, crunchy, yummy, and on the inside it's tender and juicy! It boasts of Manang's unique 10 spice blend seasoning. A solo bucket of 6 pieces costs Php 384.
