The Inspiring Women Empowerment Series 3 in Arkipelago
Hello po! March is a special month for me. Aside from this being my birth month, well it is also known as Fire Prevention Month AND Women's Month!!! Me believing in girl power and gender equality, a Women Empowerment talk is definitely welcome.
Last March 24, 2018 was the third of a series of Women Empowerment talks. WE S3: Designing a Life you Love After Surviving from Crises was held at the newest and Millennial food and lifestyle hub along Bagtikan, Makati - Arkipelago.
This event is spearheaded by Financial Planner Rowena Suarez of Just Ask Ro, and Joy Felizardo of Gastronomy by Joy.
There are two topics discussed, the first is about overcoming failures, tips on how to be successful in career and business, and the next talk was about financial literacy, on savings, investments etc. We were also able to ask about their secrets and even personal matters!
The first is a heartfelt sharing about childhood, marriage and career from Consul Annette Ablan (Honorary Consul of Belarus). She is the daughter of former Ilocos Norte Rep. Roquito “Roque” Ablan Jr.
She can speak fluent Russian, having studied abroad! With her gift of gab, she was also the host of television program Ikons in Circles.
Some of her advice: Keep your feet close to the ground and be realistic (huwag ka mainggit, for all you know the people you envy are miserable deep inside). Be grateful. Discontented souls complain even in paradise. Count your blessings instead of troubles. Pray with your heart - God always listens.
Discussion up next with Rowena Suarez, RFP, FChFP, COT. She is the wife of Unisan, Quezon Vice Mayor Jun Jun Suarez and was a host on TV's Investment Academy.
Her advocacy includes reaching out to special children.
She taught us about savings, the business aspect, how to be a millionaire without investing millions plus free travel abroad.

This event was definitely educational, inspiring and empowering. My special takeaway from WE is that women should be financially independent, have her own income, and not rely on her man as her single source of funds. Be brave to save and invest, for yourself and for your family to be comfortable in the retirement years.
