Sylviahera Streaming This Christmas at Casa Nieves TV!
Last December 20, 2018 afternoon saw this blogger attend an intimate get-together with one of the best actresses of the Philippines, Sylvia Sanchez.
The impromptu meeting was supposed to be held at her home at White Plains but had to be moved in a cafe in Promenade, Greenhills due to unforeseen circumstance. Sayang, her kitchen was said to look like an International Shopping Center due to her penchant for buying stuff!
Sylvia always made an impression on me as a doting mom, thanks to shows like Hanggang Saan, The Greatest Love, among others. She is the mother of Arjo, Ria (who are now following in her footsteps in showbiz), Gela and Xavi.
First to arrive was the very cheerful and friendly director, Dante Nico Garcia, fresh from Palawan. Then came her Manager, Ms. Anna.
I was awestruck to see Sylvia for the first time. She is generous and welcoming. She even sat beside me.
She promoted her upcoming web special, Sylviahera, which is the banner show for Casa Nieves TV. Casa Nieves TV is a channel that aims to promote positive values.
Arjo and Ria are fast making their names in the showbiz industry due to their good looks and acting prowess. They teased Sylvia, naunahan niya mga anak niya magka online travel and cooking show!
She also plugged her MMK episode Finding Nita, in which she switches roles. Whereas before, she was the forgetful mother, now, she is the daughter to the character of Boots Anson-Roa, who has Alzheimer's. It will be aired this Saturday, December 22, on ABS-CBN.
Sylviahera tells the story of Josette Campo, a simple girl from the town of Nasipit, Agusan Del Norte, who became known as the actress Sylvia Sanchez. Hers was a rags to riches fairy tale. She has been honest that her early life saw her family battle with poverty.
During her childhood, she used to swim and dive for seaweeds and sea urchins, and pick up suso (snails). Til she met her Prince Charming in Arturo Atayde, a man from a traditional Spanish family.
Her children were fortunate enough to be born to a comfortable life, so she makes it her mission to balance their lives and mindset by bringing them back to her hometown in Mindanao to see the other side of life and instill in them morals.
For values and "puso" was, after all, the only inheritance she got from her own mom. Lacking in material things, she witnessed how big her mother's heart was, even going to the point of giving away some of their ulam to the hungry neighbor who comes in to ask for food (which was, in the first place, barely enough to make their family of 6 kids full).
Sylviahera is a travel and cooking show with a generous sprinkling of life lessons to be aired on Youtube channel, Casa Nieves TV. Prodded why not on TV, Direk replied that the advantage of going social media is that there is no strict timeslot, it is accessible by anyone, at any time, and exists forever til there is Internet (or at least til taken down).
The attack on this is much like a reality show, wherein you will see the reactions are very natural. This is real life, spontaneous and impromptu, not scripted.
Every month, they will be streaming 1 main body and 8 sub-contents. Pilot is on December 25, 2018, 12:01 AM. Then every Tuesday and Friday night are its supplementary- related to the main episode, like trivia, hacks, recipes, etc.
We watched a clip of Sylviahera and I can see that it looks very promising, interesting, and finely crafted. The scenes are breath taking. More than inspiration, there are tangible lessons to be taken.
They envision homemakers and OFWs, especially, will love it for it gives useful tips and recipes that are easily imitable even with only a one burner stove! But, Sylvia maintains that she is not a teacher who teaches cooking! Despite her culinary certification, she insists that she is only sharing!
She has a creative cooking style; she can invent dishes, and when she tastes something delicious in a restaurant, she tries to re-create it.

Sylviahera is still on final editing stage, but will have a definite playdate this Christmas. So after Noche Buena, let's all watch Sylviahera with our loved ones. :)
