How to Prevent Shine for Very Oily Skin
Hello po! If you are like me with very oily skin, you know the feeling of how you have just taken a bath and yet after 30 minutes, you can already see shine on your face, lol.
Ever since high school, I had very oily, acne-prone skin. No, it is not because of poor hygiene, mind you, I am very meticulous and clean, but y'know... hereditary.
Well anyways, I read somewhere that the drier your skin is, the more it compensates by producing more oils. Counter-intuitive it may seem, but do not go over-washing your face ten times a day or using too strong soaps and cleansers. (Twice is okay. You may wash it mid-day tho if you sweat.)
Now when I'm out, I don't retouch in the middle of the day at all, I hate retouching. If I put another layer of makeup underneath the old one, I breakout! I need to clean and take it all off first. Start with a fresh canvas, as they say.
I wanna share some tips on how I keep my makeup on fresh all day:
1. Anti-sebum Primer (optional, and I prefer dewy cream primer over balm type primer since I find the latter don't cover my pores and just makes makeup sit on top of it, making it hard to blend in).
2. After putting foundation, apply face powder with a puff using stamping motion. Press, press the powder, work it in, baby.
3. I like layering makeup so I do not have to do it again later. What I mean is I use a cream blush and then also a powder blush. Or I use eyebrow pencil and eyebrow powder next.
4. After putting the rest of your makeup, keep them in place by using setting/translucent powder with a brush. It will also remove any eyeshadow fall outs and help blend your blush, contour.
5. Spray fixer mist (this is optional too).
Very important- do not scrimp on POWDER! Always apply a GENEROUS amount and blend. Powder absorbs our oilies!!! Powder is our best friend in fixing our makeup and helping it to last longer, and for our visage to stay fresh longer. Just use a suitable one so as to prevent a white cast in case of flash photography.
Having a little oil and shine on the face ain't necessarily bad, if anything, it imparts a glowy/dewy look. Plus, they say that oily skin ages slower. Hooray for younger looking skin!
Now this is just what works for me. Different persons may have varied results. I hope to help you with this guide for oily skin. Stay flawless! :)
