Viva Poong Jesus Nazareno Traslacion 2024

Hello po! Friends, hijos and devotees of the Poong Hesus Nazareno.

The Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno (Black Nazarene), popularly known as Quiapo Church and canonically as the Saint John the Baptist Parish,

January 9, 2024 is the Feast Day of Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno. We also went there today for the Traslacion 2024. As expected, most major roads which directly lead there were closed, and there was a million people! But there were giant screens where people could watch Mass.

Translacion 2024

Ibig Po Naming Makita si Hesus (Jn 12:21) is the theme of this year, Nazareno 2024.

Quiapo church history

This yearly event attracts people from all walks of life, all called by Nazareno to come to Him. To be safe, we try to avoid the influx of the huge crowd and witness at the side where the population was still manageable.

The streets were at a festive mood too; there were merrymaking, costumed gay street performers, lion dance, etc. Of course, vendors plying their trade to all and sundry were at full force, commodities such as Nazarene towels and headbands, flowers, food, herbal medicine, even tiny puppies!

There was heightened alert and police visibility during this time. There was also signal jammer from Quiapo reaching Divisoria so we did not have connection.

SHRINE OF THE BLACK NAZARENE

We left around 6 PM but the Nazarene image has not returned yet during this time, heard He was still around Quinta market.

Earlier, we saw a lot of barefoot people, not caring if their legs are all muddy, such is their small way of sacrifice. And during the week, there was a lot of processions, many different Barangay Nazareno images on the roads as they had visited/ had them blessed in Quiapo.

Quiapo day friday

Every Friday, we try our best to go to Quiapo Church, especially since Caloocan to Manila is a short distance.

Quiapo Church is also known by these names: The Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno (Black Nazarene), Basilika ng Nazareno, and canonically as Saint John the Baptist Parish.

What I like about here is, even though it may be a challenge coming here every Friday as huge throngs of people flock to the site, there's blessing with Holy Water after Masses, and Confessions are heard regularly. Not to mention, this Church is touted miraculous!

Last Holiday, they launched official calendars, necklace medallions and images. They were offered at low prices so they were sold out immediately, but stocks are being replenished.

Thanks for reading. Do you have a patotoo or thanksgiving to the Nazareno that you want to share with us? Do comment below! :)
