Warts Electrocauterizarion Experience at Bioessence!
Hello po! Friends, I love a good relaxing facial treatment but my priority was ridding the wart near my eye before they multiply. I asked in Bioessence social media and was quoted only php 1250 for mild case for face as they were on half off discount. Take note pricing was per area.
I actually had services in different Bioessence branches including their Main. And when in the neighborhood mall, I saw the 50% off warts poster by the entrance of this new Bioessence, I inquired in the counter how much for the 2 piece wart on my eyelid and I was quoted php 1750 (more expensive than as quoted thru corporate IG) with promo free facial and diamond peel because of Oxygen anniversary.
One piece on my underarm was 500 and another 1 piece near my tummy for another 500... I said I will just return tomorrow since I am wearing makeup. Receptionist insisted they will clean naman first but I repeated that I really want my face to be clean before any facial (to avoid breakouts). I almost relented since she said she is not sure until when their promo would be.
So I returned the following evening about 7pm because I had dinner first (I was told procedure is an hour. Their closing was 9pm but it was the only free time we had).
The clinic, although small, had a nice ambiance, with the native textile touches, and feels cozy. My companion also asked for their clinic password which they gave. It was a plus point as malibang sya with their free wifi while waiting. The young skin technician who was to do my treatment was introduced and she lent slippers to change into. Then I went inside the room. The music was relaxing.
The aesthetician who handled my wart removal was nice and courteous. There was no initial assessment or checking. It was straight to procedure. I will try to recall as best as I can-
When I lied down she gently wiped my face with cotton pad soaked in solution (so thankful that I was not wearing makeup and that I washed my face prior! Just imagine if I didnt, if I took receptionist's word that there is cleaning, eh they would not deep clean pala just a little wiping, so all smoke, dirt and pore clogging foundation would still be there).
She mentioned that it is better to have availed the Diamond peel some other time after the pimples have healed and I said I did not know (counter did not advice me of that option).
She then proceeded with the diamond peel wand. Her hand was magaan so it did not sting much. But even around the sensitive eye area was vacuumed with the abrasive crystal tipped wand for about a minute which was unnecessary harm since the skin under eyes is thin and delicate - they should be trained to know that. Sure enough, the under eye area looked wrinkly the following day. (If the new staff has little experience they should not command expensive price since they were training on us, the clients.)
As I was expecting a facial I asked regarding that. And she said there was no facial. I said but the receptionist told me there is free facial and diamond peel. She said there is none only DP. I repeated it, and she asked pricking ba and I said yes... So after the diamond peel she said she will prick a pimple on the forehead since it looked ripe. But it actually was a thick scar as I told her. Ah parang kalyo, she finally understood. It was actually a huge letdown for me since I was expecting a full facial. You know, ridding the skin of blackheads on the nose, scrubbing, steaming, laser, mask etc. Gently wiping client's face with cotton is not considered a regular facial nor is it complete proper cleansing prior to a procedure!
She also noticed the "open pores" on my nose but I said those were actually boxcar or icepick depressed scars as I suffered from moderate acne before. To this she recommended their dermapen. But I was afraid of needles!
Then she put on anesthesia cream and placed tape over the warts. I was expecting only two so at 10, it was more than I thought! Even those that I really thought were pimples, whiteheads or milia- she said were warts. Also bumps that were fat deposit. She said I am lucky my warts were the same color as my face and not dark.
After maybe 15 or 30 minutes, I am not sure how long, it was electrocauterization. You can smell the burning and I feel some parts tingling but nothing was too painful.
It was actually fast and the burnt warts look like black flat moles lol. Was advised not to wash the area for 24 hours and that there is free checkup. My technician also offered me their other oxygen products and facials, or massage (with free facial) but nothing too hardselling (maybe thanks to the fact closing time na), so overall the experience was still pleasant. She also doesn't seem to rush me which is another plus+++ point!
Finally, when I went out to my companion who was waiting, (the doctor or manager?) in white coat said including the 2 creams the total is 2550. I said maybe we can return but she said I have to put it tonight and "800 lang naman yan" (as if 800 was loose change for a regular working folk lol).
And I asked what they are and she said those were anti itch and anti infection cream. I said I will just buy what is more important which is anti infection but she insisted it is better to get the duo as the other one will aid in the scabbing since my complexion is white. So we finally agree and I asked for the steps how to use since it was not written in the box, it is apply 3x a day both creams (does not matter which first). I also inquired regarding free checkup, to which she said is after 2 weeks.
I hope all goes well because the thing is, no receipt was issued to us so if there is adverse reaction, wala kang habol. I gave a tip to the girl who returned my slippers (I hope she was my technician, I forgot to ask)!
Overall, they have some positive and definitely some for improvement. I say the experience is still satisfactory as they were polite (and both receptionist and technician said that maganda balat ko. Hey my skin is my insecurity so it's a big deal to be complimented). Though as compared with other cheaper, budget friendly spas or facial clinics (including their more affordable sister brand facial plus), their price is more on the high end (as you would expect as they pay mall rental). Eg, massage at neighborhood spa with TESDA/ NC2 is just php 300 as compared here a whopping php 780. But of course it is aimed at their loyal clientele which is the more affluent crowd.
I have to admit though that there should be truth in advertising or at least transparency and full disclosure. There was no price list displayed. Their come on free facial was vague. I asked the free facial that comes with massage and technician said it was just cleaning and a little pricking. But we would expect a real facial (the works) and not just wiping the face with cotton considered as facial.
Actually I had tried massage in their main branch before, it was relaxing eventhough their massage therapist is without NC2 accreditation. (I asked her and she herself claimed none. And if they really are with this training then there should be a certification or the certificate is plastered on the wall like in others.)
Tips:
They have freebies when you spend 10k (travel kit pouch which contains 3 empty bottles that you can pour the contents of your big container skin care into) or 15k (umbrella).
Do not expect too much with their advertised free facial as like me, you might feel shortchanged. You can't complain as they label it as "free" (though for the price of the main you would think it was a decent one that was included in the price).
And also, if you can, bring extra money as it might not be just the discussed fee, but you may need to pay for add ons or take home meds later. Same with others, they will offer other products, services and packages so you might end up spending more. If you are on a tight budget, better look elsewhere.
Do not be tempted to remove so soon the black spots of burnt skin! It serves as protection as it is still healing.
Another one, take pictures of your face with anesthesia cream and after the treatment as a guide to help you look back where the burnt areas to put the cream are, as the blackened skin would fall off as you wash the skin or apply their cream using cotton buds. And it would be hard to locate the spots to put cream on if they heal fast.
Experience may vary depending on branch. This is just my honest feedback and unbiased review as a paying customer on this one particular. In their other stores, they even give free trial, and also would invite you inside for a proper pre assessment instead of receptionist just giving you a quick glance then usher you in immediately for aesthetician to get it on.
Update:
On my follow up check up, they gave an electrocauterization again but the whitehead or fat deposit (not a wart) was zapped. Hence instead of becoming a black dot, it became a big wound. Yes it was skinned and I saw the flesh bloody. After days it healed and had a big greenish scab. (Unlike a real wart which becomes a black dot.) So the technician really made a mistake. Maybe it was because she was trying hard to find something to treat but my face had very few- almost no warts at all. Looking back I wish I asked her to treat the one piece wart on my underarm since medyo lugi. I hardly have any warts unlike other people with dozens so it is worth it for them to pay thousands.
