stART Hope Anew This Year!

Having attended a number of advocacy blogcons, I can say one must cover not for the remuneration they will give. Because there is far greater to be had- and that is knowing that as a blogger, you have helped to disseminate information for a worthy cause.
Such is this Start Hope project that shall be held a few days from now- January 7, 2017 in Kanto Artist-Run Space, 2/F Makati Cinema Square, to be exact. Programs start around 3 pm, and will showcase the featured artists, seasoned performers, homeschool talents and more. The exhibit will run til January 26.
What is stART Hope?
Start Hope is the FIRST art exhibit of its kind, in the sense that it was purely curated by homeschoolers! The homeschooled students came up with the idea and around 50 (Grades 4 to 8) of them has united their efforts in the pursuit of hope, peace and change for the next generation.
The kids were fully involved in this project- from proposing to sponsors to collaborating with the media, etc., with their teachers lending support.
Homeschoolers
The original Homeschool @ The Fort, which is an organized community of homeschoolers that provide fun and engaging classes for homeschoolers has expanded into two more communities- Homeschool @ Alabang and Homeschool @ Valle Verde. These are the places to go to if you want to join a playgroup, co-op, or a homeschooling support group. Feel free to choose which one is near you.
For three years now, their Communication and Collaboration class (formerly called Projects and Presentations) is held with the aim of supplementing the learning experiences of homeschooled independent learners by giving them an avenue to work in different group/class settings.
stART Hope is one of the collaborated projects of the class’ SY 2016-2017 students through the guidance and inspiration of their teachers, Jana Tupas and Owie dela Cruz, co-owners of education-travel blog, School in a Backpack.
Beneficiary
The main beneficiary is Nice So, as well as the children of WALK or Wishes of Aid and Limbs for Kids Inc.(a non-stock, non-profit organization, among the Rotary Club of Makati Forbes Park District 3830's projects).
The Artists
The media launch held last December 3 at The Crafter's Marketplace, Rustan's Edsa Shangri-la, was very informative; as being a purely private school educated lass (from Kinder to College), I am not very familiar with regards to homeschooling. I found out that day, a child can be homeschooled from 5 years old up to Grade 10.
As I get to meet the kids, I am amazed at how smart they are! The quality of education they get is indeed high!
The luscious Maja Surprise cake by Salva's Kitchen and coffee was served for snacks.
After the talk, we proceeded up to Ogolala store for the color your tote bag contest. We were joined by an artist per table.

Aw, snap! Too bad Nice So was not introduced to our table. I did not know she was there and only found out thru their social media!

stART Hope is accepting artworks with the theme “hope” on a 16x16 mounted canvass from all homeschooling students across the Philippines. Exhibition pieces are currently pre-selling through stART Hope’s online shop via facebook.com/stARTofHope.

The Artists
- Nice So- the main beneficiary of the event, an artist who was diagnosed with the incurable disease of lupus when she was in grade school. While in the hospital, she discovered her innate artistic talents and has been painting and selling her artworks to pay for her medical necessities as well as to help other kids with lupus and other incurable diseases.
- Niño Hernandez- an international and local contemporary artist, and an art teacher in the homeschool community.
- Ginger de Guia- a professional calligraphist who "colors for a purpose". Also an art teacher in the homeschool community.
- Waby Liberia- homeschooled until her senior high, and now incoming college student pursuing arts management, this budding artist will make her debut in the art scene through stART hope.
