Sweden's New Sensation JATA is Here and Won't Leave You Now!
Hello po! Friends, I discovered this indie pop band from Sweden called Joe & the Anchor. The group is composed of Joakim Rosenlund, Ruben Sonesson, Viktor Edsjö and Robin Zhang.
Of course, we know Scandinavia also produced other memorable artists like ABBA, The Cardigans, Roxette, Robyn, Ace of Base, among others.
I have listened to their songs and I like the quality of the voice (how manly it is), and how flawless the performance is. The music is soothing and feel good! Their YT has vlogs, originals and covers.
They remind me of the top bands whose hit songs become Pinoy Videoke staples!
This December 16 at 2:30AM Philippine time they will be having a Facebook livestream at Babel Malmö - https://facebook.com/events/s/joe-the-anchor-louis-pax-babel/1089711625112186/
I also got the chance to e-meet the Swedish trio at their virtual meet and greet. These guys are sensible, sweet and down to earth. They answered our Q&A, shared their music influences and personal life.
Did you know, before settling on Joe & the Anchor, one of the band's early name was supposed to be Curly Joe?
When asked about music influence, the band has this to share,
"Our musical influences are really wide as we all listen to different kind of music. But we tend to take inspiration from a lot of old music and try to make it modern. For example we love an older band called Del Amitri, and asked ourselves what that band would sound like today and tried to make a sound out of that.
And sometimes it’s just about the story, and those times the songs really just write themselves."
These childhood friends plan to celebrate the Christmas with their family, as last year, the pandemic did not allow them to (even us, as most of us had to abide by the quarantine).
They are looking forward to visiting Manila next year, 2022, and experiencing all things uniquely Filipino like the food, amazing beaches, everything.
Indie-pop band Joe & The Anchor release new piano ballad ‘Leaving You Now’ - an emotional break-up song about experiencing first love, to grow apart and realizing there is nothing left in the relationship worth fighting for. The singer Joakim's powerful yet emotional voice goes straight to the heart.
“Leaving You Now has been with us for a long time. We’ve all been in that situation, when the first real love of your life turns into your first heartbreak. We tried to really capture that feeling when we wrote this song” - JATA about the song.
The single is the second one from their upcoming album ‘Coming of Age’ which explores the feelings of growing up, the fragility of life, love, and taking things for granted. Following a difficult few month when the band members had to experience the harsh reality of loss, Joe & The Anchor decided to process the events through music. During a hectic and focused period of time, the band wrote and recorded what would later develop into a full-length album, which will be released during the spring of 2022.
This talented band truly has the potential to make it big! Let's stream them more and support them.
