FEU Heritage Tour
October 4, 2014 was my first time to set foot inside the FEU campus, after my 4 years of studying in the school a mere walking distance from it.
When I got an invitation to go on the FEU Art Deco Tour, I immediately said yes. I appreciate beauty and works of art.
First of all, what is Art Deco?
According to Wikipedia, Art Deco (/ˌɑrt ˈdɛkoʊ/), or Deco, is an influential visual arts design style that first appeared in France after World War I and began flourishing internationally in the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s before its popularity waned after World War II. It is an eclectic style that combines traditional craft motifs with Machine Age imagery and materials. The style is often characterized by rich colours, bold geometric shapes and lavish ornamentation.
I am really surprised to find all these gems inside the FEU campus. Most of them are art works by National Artists. Here are some:

FEU Chapel is considered one of the most expensive chapels in the country because of the art works it houses.

The 4.5 hectare Far Eastern University (that is in both Sampaloc and Quiapo) takes pride in its art deco style buildings.
I spotted the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Award Honourable Mention plaque in the FEU-East Asia College Building, Law Building and Administration Building.
FEU is the ONLY campus in the country with a UNESCO citation.
Architects/Designers are Pablo S. Antonio, National Artist; and Pablo R. Antonio, Jr.
Wooden reliefs by Italian sculptor Francesco Riccardo Monti.
Notice also the very expensive Carrara marble (made in Italy) floor.
Fascinating Auditorium. The space in the top sides are for VIP's private viewing.
The oldest building in FEU is the Nicanor Reyes Hall. The slab (roofing) in the ground floor is getting lower because the flooring had been elevated.

FEU Symbols
The Sarimanok and the mascot of FEU athletic teams, the Tamaraw, which is endemic to Mindoro.
The bronze tamaraw in the Tamaraw Plaza is donated by Menardo Jimenez.
Here's a trivia:
Taipans Henry Sy, Lucio Tan, Alfonso Yuchengco and Ramon Ang, celebrities Vice Ganda and Ai Ai de las Alas (to name a few,) are alumni of FEU. WOW, Kabog!!!
