Hello po!
Like many people, I just adore Chinese food! Attending our Chinese association events and special occasions in restaurants and hotels, I have grown to love their cuisine!
This one is a must try if you haven't been here- Oriental Palace! It's located in 148 Tomas Morato Ave. cor Scout Gandia, cor. Scout De Guia St., Brgy. Laging Handa, Quezon City, Philippines.
There are three entrance points and there is ample parking space!
Check out Oriental Palace's bright lanterns at night!
A Look Back on Oriental Palace's Colorful History...
Oriental Palace is owned by the family behind Mandarin Palace in Paranaque and Wah Yuen. Wah Yuen (Chinese Garden), a noodle and dimsum shop across the Love Bus in Escolta, was started in 1978 by the family patriarch, Chua Kun. He was a young cook then from Hong Kong who dreamt of sharing authentic Chinese food to diners in Manila.
Driven by passion for good food and excellent cooking, the shop quickly became the go-to restaurant by the Chinese community and Filipino families all over the metro!
I am touched to know that even up to now, every morning, Mr. Chua himself goes to the market and handpicks the freshest catch of the day and guides the chefs in carefully preparing each dish to perfection! They have 3 in-house Hong Kong Chefs, and main herbs and spices used are even imported from Hong Kong to assure that the quality of food is authentic!
Let me say this, since I am no newcomer to fine dining and banquet halls, I am impressed with Oriental Palace!
Oriental Palace opened its doors last November 2014, but the place is well managed, looking almost brand new.
The restaurant is elegant, spacious, clean and bright.
Their comfort room has a hotel feel to it, clean and complete with amenities.
Their staff is very courteous too so it was indeed a pleasure to dine here.
Oriental Palace Dining Hall...
With 700 persons seating capacity, Oriental Palace floor area is divided into:
Ground Floor Main Dining Area for walk-in guests, Ground Floor Function Area (divider can be removed for bigger functions), Ground Floor Shabu-Shabu Area (soon to open 24 hours), Second Floor Function Area (max of 10 tables), Small Private Rooms (good for 12 or 24 persons).
Some of Oriental Palace's bestsellers are Siao Long Bao, Peking Duck, Oyster XO, among others.
The delicious taste is brought by the care in preparing each dish and their perfect understanding of balance of flavors and textures, which comes from decades of experience!
To be honest, before going (it was my first time there), I was only expecting simple dim sum and congee, so I was thrilled to find a grand feast was in store for us!
For drinks, I asked for black gulaman.
Before the dishes were placed on the table, there is also vegetables in a saucer. (Sometimes, peanuts are served in other Chinese restaurants while waiting for your order.)
Brace yourself for this epic Good Fortune Set to give us Good Luck this Chinese New Year 2016- Year of the Fire Monkey!!!
In order of appearance:
Two Kinds of Pastry- Polo Pao and Asado Pao- love the flaky crust and the tasty filling!
Steamed Live Rock Lobster with Garlic
Whole Suckling Pig- sweet, juicy and light crunch (some lechon has teeth-shattering hard skin, but not this one!)
Whole Sea Cucumber with Australian Abalone- one of the delicacies I can get to eat only when I am in a proper Chinese restaurant
Steamed Live Deep Sea Garoupa- FRESH!!!
Steamed Crab with Sticky Rice- even just its rice is very filling already (nakakabusog na)
Whole Dried Scallop with Sea Moss- another specialty I look forward to whenever I'm in Chinese events!
Fried Juicy Pigeons (I always reach first for the -- kropek!!!)
Sharksfin Soup with Braised Chicken and Vegetables- warm, comforting and with a rich amount of ingredients
